Originally from Pennsylvania, Sylvia Cavanaugh has an M.S. in Urban Planning from the University of Wisconsin- Madison. She currently teaches African and Asian cultural studies at Sheboygan North High School. She is also the school poetry club advisor. A member of the Wisconsin Fellowship of Poets, her poems have appeared in An Ariel Anthology, Midwest Prairie Review, Peninsula Pulse, Red Cedar Review, Seems Literary Journal, Stoneboat Literary Journal, Verse-Virtual, and Verse Wisconsin, among others. Most recently she was the winner of the Donn Goodwin Prize for poetry at the 2015 Milwaukee Irish Fest.
Ed Werstein, Milwaukee, spent 22 years in manufacturing before his muse awoke and dragged herself out of bed. He sympathizes with poor and working people. He advocates for peace and against corporate power. His poetry has appeared in Verse Wisconsin, Blue Collar Review, Steam Ticket, Stoneboat, Mobius: the Journal of Social Change and a few other publications. His first chapbook, Who Are We Then?, was published in 2013 by Partisan Press.

Winner of the 2003 Main Street Rag Chapbook Contest, Karla is the author of seven chapbooks of poetry, most recently Outside of a Dog. Main Street Rag published her full collection of poems A Theory of Lipstick in 2013. Her poem “Theory of Lipstick” was awarded a Pushcart Prize and appeared in The Pushcart Prize: Best of the Small Presses (2012).
The reading is located in the game room beyond the cafe portion of the building. Please come early and treat yourself to coffee, dessert or other goodies to enjoy during the reading which begins promptly at 6:15. Caramel Crisp closes at 7:30.
