Andrea Potos is the author of six poetry collections, including the full-length books An Ink Like Early Twilight, We Lit the Lamps Ourselves, and Yaya’s Cloth. Her short-short collection of poems Coffee in Greece was published by Anchor & Plume Press this past spring. Three times she has received an Outstanding Achievement Award in Poetry from the Wisconsin Library Association. She works as a bookseller, among other things! Above all else, she loves travel, poetry and cafes.
Australian-born Katrin Talbot’s collection noun’d, verb was recently released from dancing girl press. She has two other chapbooks, Freeze-Dried Love (Finishing Line Press), and St. Cecilia’s Daze (Parallel Press) and was recently nominated for two Pushcart Prizes in Poetry. A song cycle based on her poetry was premiered in Toronto in May 2015, and she once received enough prize money from a national poetry contest to fund a Dairy Queen run. Last year, she was voted Madison Magazine’s Best of 2015 Spoken Word Artist/Poet.

Marilyn Potter’s life as a poet began with the death of her husband. Encouraged by a personal poet friend to write, as a form of grieving, she discovered the muse within. Her first collection of poems was published as Ralph’s Pipes: Poems of Love and Loss. Marilyn will be reading from her new book: Crane Dance. She currently lives in Oshkosh and is emeritus professor of counseling psychology at UW Oshkosh. In addition to being a poet, she is a watercolor artist.

Call for Submissions: Poetry for Children DEADLINE AUGUST 31, 2016
Brick Street Poetry Inc. is seeking submissions of original children’s poetry – poetry for children written by either adults or kids of any age. Poems submitted must have never been published anywhere before. Poets are permitted to submit a maximum of three poems. Each poem is to be contained to one page of a Microsoft Word document, prepared in Times New Roman 12-point font, with one- inch margins on all four sides. The poet’s contact information – name, address, email and phone number – is to be placed at the top of each page. Preference will be given to poems that contain one or more of the following characters: a frog, a moose, bees and bears. However, poems without these characters will still be considered. Please email your submissions to: specialprojectsbsp@gmail.com with your poems sent as attachments.
The poems selected will be published in a book before the end of 2016 and given to children who are patients in Indianapolis hospitals. The cost of publishing was made possible by a grant from the Nicholas H. Noyes, Jr., Memorial Foundation. The NEW Zoo & Adventure Park Children’s Animal Poetry Contest! DEADLINE September 4, 2016!
Animals have been inspiring people for centuries – and we are excited to see that inspiration being sparked in young writers.Any child aged 5 to 10 years can enter the contest. Young poets can write a poem about any animal – especially an animal at the NEW Zoo! The winning author will receive $50 and a specially designed picture poem for display. The winning poem will also be displayed on the NEW Zoo’s website and Facebook page. Entries must include the author’s name, age, address, phone number, and an email for his or her adult guardian. Poetry entries can be dropped off at the NEW Zoo’s Visitor Center building or emailed to wfopweb@gmail.com. The winner will be announced on Wednesday, September 28.
