TUES, OCT 7 at 7 p.m.: The Foot of the Lake Poetry Collective in partnership with Thelma Sadoff Center for the Arts will present a reading by poet, Cynthia Marie Hoffman on at THELMA, 51 Sheboygan Street, Fond du Lac, WI. Cynthia Hoffman is author of two full-length collections of poetry: Sightseer, winner of the Lexi Rudnitsky First Book Prize in Poetry, and Paper Doll Fetus, forthcoming in late 2014. She is also author of the chapbook Her Human Costume. Hoffman is the recipient of a Diane Middlebrook Poetry Fellowship from the Wisconsin Institute for Creative Writing, a Director’s Guest fellowship from the Civitella Ranieri Foundation, and an Individual Artist Fellowship from the Wisconsin Arts Board. The event is free. Refreshments are available. An open-mic follows the featured reader.

WED, OCT 15, ERIC NELSON AT RIPON COLLEGE, 7:30 PM in the North Reading Room of Lane Library, 300 Seward St, Ripon. The reading, which is free and open to all, will be followed by a book signing and reception. Nelson’s most recent collection of poems, The Twins, won the 2009 Split Oak Press chapbook competition. Other books include Terrestrials; The Interpretation of Waking Life;The Light Bringers; and On Call. Among his awards are the X.J. Kennedy Poetry Award, the Arkansas Poetry Award, and fellowships to the Hambidge Center for the Arts and the Virginia Center for Creative Arts. In 2005, he was named the Georgia Author of the Year in Poetry by the Georgia Writers’ Association. Mariann Ritzer has published two chapbooks of poetry and a chapbook of short fiction. She taught creative writing seminars and poetry workshops at Waukesha County Technical College for seventeen years until her recent retirement. Before that, she was a writing program director at UW-Stevens Point where she earned her bachelor and master degrees. With a touch of irony and a bit (bite?) of sarcasm, Ritzer writes about love and other minor inconveniences in life.
Paula Anderson publishes Echoes, a small press hand-stitched semi-annual poetry journal. Her publishing company Durnford’s Landing has published Idlewild by Ann Arntson, also Aubade and In the First Place by Judy Kolosso. Paula’s own poems have appeared in Icarus International, Centrifugal Eye, River Oak Review, Plainsongs, and others. She writes with the Stone Kettle Poets and wanders the moraines in Wales, WI.

He has published four full-length books and half a dozen chapbooks. Work has appeared in eleven anthologies including From The Belly Of The Shark from Random House. Flaherty has been in residence at art colonies including Yaddo, and the Virginia Center for the Creative Arts.
