From Wisconsin Fellowship of Poets friend Cathryn Cofell:
BE ALFORD & MYKAELA LEWIS
Monday, August 15
Poetry Rocks! Reading Series
Copper Rock Café, 210 W. College Ave, Appleton
7 pm, featured readers followed by open mike
Be Alford, a Native Texan, has been writing songs and poems since she was 13. She performs regionally as a solo performer and has learned how to play well with others in the last decade. She is grateful for the support of this community and to be sharing the night with her granddaughter, Mylaela Lewis.
Mykaela Lewis lived in Menasha for 12 years of her life. And eventually moved to Neenah. She has been writing since she was a freshman in high school. It wasn’t anything like poetry, it was more like essays. But eventually she got better and ever since that moment she has been loving what she writes. Mykaela went through a program through the YMCA called The Artful Expressions Program. She did it for a year and as a surprise her mentor got a book published with her poetry. It was published in the beginning of 2016. She found out in the beginning of February. So far a lot of people love it!
