The Council for Wisconsin Writers is in the midst of its Wisconsin Writers Awards in which talented Wisconsin writers are recognized and rewarded for their work, and we need you to help by making a donation before the tax deduction window for 2016 closes in a few days.
Here is just one example of what the Council for Wisconsin Writers means to Wisconsin writers and poets:
“When my first story collection was awarded a Council for Wisconsin Writers award in 2005, I felt validated on many levels. One was this simple thrill of being recognized by fellow writers, a thrill which endures [. . .] On another level, I felt like I’d arrived as an author. This is because as an author, you can go years, even your entire lifetime, without ever attracting a single reader (let alone an entire committee of peers) to prove that you, indeed, exist. So the CWW award legitimized my work, while also introducing me to a community of writers whose work I seek out to this day. [. . .] Recognition from the CWW made me want to give something back, something wonderful and worthwhile, to the readers of this state. For the validation, fellowship, and reciprocity it inspires, the CWWs programs are truly an invaluable part of our state’s arts culture.”

Your gifts to the Council for Wisconsin Writers make it possible to recognize and inspire great writing here in Wisconsin. In times of light and in times of darkness—especially in times of darkness—it is up to each of us to lend strength to the writers among us . . . to give them the hope it takes to unfold new ideas and share them.
Your contribution to the Council for Wisconsin Writers makes stories like Rebecca’s possible. Your gift makes it possible for us to recognize and inspire others like her. We are currently accepting submissions for the 2016 Wisconsin Writers Awards, our annual contest to honor the most talented writers in our state. We need your help by making a donation.
So we’re asking: Are you strong enough to lend those writers some of your strength, to lend us some of your hope?
Thank you. Please visit us at www.wiswriters.org to see who we are and meet many more like Rebecca.
