The following is posted on behalf of Milwaukee teacher, writer, editor Marisa Wall Riepenhoff. What a great new entry into the publishing world!
Hidden Color Press — a new, youth-run publisher — is seeking submissions of teen art & writing for compilation into “a guide to Milwaukee.” Deadline for submissions is March 1, 2014.
We want readers to experience Milwaukee through your eyes as a teen. Think about places throughout the city that mean something to you – places that not everyone might know about or appreciate, like an abandoned plot of land or an old house. It doesn’t have to be a physical place; it could be about a more intangible aspect of Milwaukee, like its creativity or its community. It can be a memory, a smell or a feeling evoked. We want you to think about what makes a *place* and about your perspective of this creative city. Explore Milwaukee, and experiment with how you want to represent this city through your creative work.
Poetry, drawings, short stories, paintings, essays, photography, scripts, prints, haiku, comic art, reviews, rants, interviews, memoirs, satires or any other creative work can be submitted. We are looking for work that will help us see Milwaukee in entirely new ways through your eyes.
A few important details:
