Join us to hear fabulous poems recited by heart! You’ll hear classics from e. e. cummings, Ann Sexton and Richard Wilbur and new favorites by Dorianne Laux, Frank O’Hara, Connie Wanek and more.

Michael Koehler is a mainstay of the Fox Valley poetry scene, author of 4 collections of poetry and working on a new collection.
Richard Merelman, a native of Washington, D. C., is Professor (Emeritus) of Political Science at the University of Wisconsin, Madison, where he published widely on culture and politics in Western democracies. The Imaginary Baritone (Fireweed Press), his first book of poems, appeared in 2012. In 2016, Finishing Line Press published his chapbook The Unnamed Continent. In 2017, Bent Paddle Press published his Sensorium, another chapbook. Poems of his have appeared in Main Street Rag, Measure, Stoneboat, Common Ground Review, Inscape, Lake Effect, and Third Wednesday, among others. He and his wife live in Madison, WI.
An open mike will follow.

Christina Kubasta writes poetry, prose & hybrid forms. Her favorite rejection (so far) noted that one editor loved her work, and the other hated it. She is the author of two poetry chapbooks: A Lovely Box, which won the 2014 Wisconsin Fellowship of Poets Chapbook Prize, and &s; and the full-length collections, All Beautiful & Useless (BlazeVOX) and Of Covenants (Whitepoint Press), and the novella Girling (Brain Mill Press). She currently teaches English and Gender Studies at Marian University, in Fond du Lac, Wisconsin, where she is active with the Wisconsin Fellowship of Poets, and works with Brain Mill Press. MAGGIE SMITH

Maggie Smith is the author of three books of poetry: Good Bones (Fall 2017); The Well Speaks of Its Own Poison, winner of the Dorset Prize and the 2016 Independent Publisher Book Awards Gold Medal in Poetry; and Lamp of the Body, winner of the Benjamin Saltman Award. She is also the author of three prize-winning chapbooks.
Smith’s poems have appeared in the many other journals and anthologies. Her poem “Good Bones” went viral internationally and was called the “Official Poem of 2016” by the BBC/Public Radio International. In April 2017, “Good Bones” was featured on the CBS primetime drama Madam Secretary, and to date the poem has been translated into nearly a dozen languages. Smith is the recipient of fellowships from the National Endowment for the Arts, the Ohio Arts Council, and the Sustainable Arts Foundation, among others.
Books will be available for cash purchase and signing.
