Children/Young Adult author Pat Schmatz’s Bluefish has won SCBWI’s 2012 Midwest region Crystal Kite Award.
What is SCBWI? Arguably the world’s most prestigious and influential, and certainly the largest, organization for children’s writers and illustrators, SCBWI is the acronym for Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators.
What is a Crystal Kite Award? The complete name is the Crystal Kite Member Choice Awards and it is bestowed by fellow SCBWI members on one of their own.
Pat’s Bluefish has won other awards, as has her earlier book, Mousetraps, which the 2008 Council for Wisconsin Writers’ Tofte/Wright Children’s Literature Award.
