Wisconsin Fellowship of Poets is holding its monthly Poetry Unlocked event on Monday, July 13, online. Here are the details:
LEOTA ESTER
Monday, July 13
Zoom – See Link Below
7:00 – 8:00 pm
Leota Ester wrote the poetry she will read to us during the time that she first noticed her husband was changing, through first confirming his having Alzheimer’s Disease, going to a long-term care facility, until his death in 2006. Her book, Crossing, A Caregiver’s Journey, takes the reader with her on that journey, a story in poetry form. Leota was a high school English teacher, left teaching when her husband, a newspaper reporter, took a position in Pocatello, Idaho. There, she became the mother of three daughters. In the early 70’s, the family moved to Appleton, Wisconsin, where she began a career in business, starting a successful business that provided temporary workers to client companies. Following 13 successful years, she sold the business, retired to do community volunteer work until moving to The Mather in 2013 where she lives and still writes poetry.
A limited open mic will follow, requiring an advance sign-up. Email us to reserve your spot at PoetryUnlockedAppleton@gmail.com. Names will be accepted in the order received until slots are filled. Thank you for understanding.
