Here's news from Wisconsin's children's writers: Pat Schmatz's Bluefish was selected by the Wisconsin Library Association for the Elizabeth Burr/Worzalla Award. Stuart Stotts's Books in A Box: Lutie Stearns and the Traveling Libraries of Wisconsin has been chosen by the Wisconsin Committee for the National Book Festival to be Wisconsin's representative children's book at the state booth. Julie Bowie is celebrating the release of My Extra Best Friend, the latest in her "Friends for Keeps" series for young readers with book events on July 5, 10 a.m., in Cable WI at Redbery Books with a launch party that will include a camp-style sing-along, rock/bead-necklace making and treats; July 7, 2 p.m. at Red Balloon Bookshop in St. Paul MN with a repeat of the July 5 program; July 12, 7-7:30 p.m. in Eau Claire's Owen Park with friendship-bracelet making prior to the EC Municipal Band Concert, and July 14, 2 p.m., at BAM Bookstore in Eau Claire. JoAnn Early Macken's nonfiction picture book Flip, Float, Fly: Seeds on the Move is moving on new media.
