Wisconsin Historical Society Press Books Win Gold!
MADISON, Wis. –Two Wisconsin Historical Society Press books won gold medals in the 2019 Independent Publisher Book Awards. Winners include:
- Somos Latinas, a collection of oral histories documenting the lives and work of Wisconsin Latina activists by Andreas-Teresa Arenas and Eloisa Gomez, which won in the Women’s Issues category
- How to Make a Life: A Tibetan Refugee Family and the Midwestern Woman They Adopted, by Madeline Uraneck, which won in the Multicultural Non-fiction category.
The Independent Publisher Book Awards (IPPY Awards) recognizes independent publishers and authors worldwide, showcasing some of the best among the nearly one million books published each year. Books are judged based on quality of content, originality, design, and production by a panel of experts from all over the publishing industry. The gold medals will be presented at an awards ceremony May 28, held in conjunction with BookExpo America, at the Copacabana in New York City
The award-winning books were both published by Wisconsin Historical Society Press in spring 2017.
