Two children’s book authors and members of SCBWI-Wisconsin celebrate great news.
Pat Miller’s Sophie’s Squash has won the SCBWI highly prestigious Golden Kite Award for picture book text. Pat says SCBWI Executive Director Lin Oliver herself called Pat personally.
“I’m still feeling a little frazzled and flummoxed,” Pat reported on the SCWI Wisconsin chapter listserv. “There are some seriously good books among the other winners.”
In addition to thanking her many supporters and mentors, Pat wrote, “I still have a lot to learn about books and writing, but one thing I know for sure is that this never would have happened without the SCBWI.”
The other good news report of the month is from Janet Halfmann, author of myriad fantastically wonderful books. Her latest, A Rainbow of Birds, was released the end of February by Garden Angel Publishing.
“It’s an original bird legend of how the birds gave the world the rainbow,” Janet told her fellow Wisconsin SCBWI-ers on their listserv. “If anyone would like to review it, just let me know and I’ll send you the pdf.”
