Wisconsin poet and CWW board member Robin Chapman is one of seven newly elected members of the Wisconsin Academy of Fellows who will be inducted next month.
Robin and her fellow inductees are being honored for their “extraordinary levels of accomplishment in their fields as well as a lifelong commitment to intellectual discourse and public service,” according to the Academy’s announcement. “These distinguished individuals from a wide range of disciplines help shape our programs and projects. Fellowship represents the highest level of recognition conferred by the Wisconsin Academy.”
The Fellows Induction Ceremony is scheduled for 1-3:30 p.m., Sunday, April 27, in Promenade Hall, Overture Center for the Arts in Madison. Registration will open on March 15.
Robin is UW-Madison professor emerita of Communicative Disorders and a former principal investigator at the Waisman Center, where she studied language learning in individuals with Down syndrome, work for which she received the 2006 Career Research Scientist award from the Academy on Mental Retardation, according to her Academy biography. In addition to her poems appearing in numerous journals and online sites, this award-winning poet has published five chapbooks and nine books of poetry. She currently teaches poetry workshops at The Clearing and Bjorklunden in Door County.
